For more than 160 years, The Plough Inn has stood at the heart of Tarrawingee.​What began as a wayside stop for travellers heading to the goldfields soon became a gathering place for locals and neighbours passing through this part of the High Country.

 

Before the brick building that stands today, The Plough Inn began in 1861 as a simple timber inn.

Set along early routes linking the goldfields, farms and mountain tracks, it provided travellers with a place to rest before continuing their journey through the High Country.
